MG S5 EV To Replace ZS EV, India Launch Expected To Be In 2026

MG Motor India showcased its latest global models at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, including the Majestor, M9, and Cyberster.
Now, reports suggest that the MG S5 EV will soon replace the ZS EV in global markets. The all-electric SUV is set to launch in Europe later this year, with an India debut expected in early 2026, as per Gaadiwaadi. However, the automaker has not made an official announcement anything regarding the India launch yet. Furthermore, the vehicle will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti e-Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6, if launched in India.

Design
Built on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) like the MG4 hatch, the S5 EV features a modern design with split LED headlamps and a bold front bumper with air inlets. The side profile gets body-coloured ORVMs and roof rails, while the connected LED tail lamps add a stylish touch at the rear.
In terms of size, the S5 EV is larger than the ZS EV, measuring 4,476 mm in length, 1,849 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2,730 mm, which is 145 mm longer than the ZS EV, ensuring better interior space and improved rear seat legroom.
Features
The cabin of the MG S5 EV will feature a new layout and premium upholstery, offering a more refined and comfortable experience. It will come equipped with a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats and a powered driver’s seat.
Safety and convenience will be prioritised with Level 2 ADAS technology, offering advanced driver assistance features. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents and a large touchscreen infotainment system, seamlessly integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Power & Range
The MG S5 EV is expected to house a 62 kWh battery powering a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, delivering 167 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds and is likely to offer a 500+ km range on a full charge.
For comparison, the ZS EV has a front-axle-mounted motor with 174 bhp and 280 Nm.
Moving on, MG Motor India has several exciting launches planned. The Cyberster electric convertible will go on sale in the next few months, followed by the all-electric M9 MPV. The Majestor SUV will arrive by late 2025.
